The Fragonard perfumery was founded in 1926 in the Côte d'Azur city of Grasse, considered by many to be the perfume capital of the world. Perfume mini workshop highlights

9 rue Scribe

This smart address in the 9th arrondissement, a short hop from the Louvre, Paris Opéra and Place Vendôme, occupies a stately 19th-century townhouse. Across the two stories inside, you’ll discover opulent period furnishings, beautiful gilded mirrors, dazzling chandeliers and eye-catching artworks and frescoes.

Aromatic antiquities

Your guide will introduce you to the history of perfume and lead you through a wonderland of curiosities and antique artifacts. Highlights in the museum include a 5,000-year-old kohl vase from Mesopotamia, a silver whistle pomander from 8th-century Germany, a delicate turn-of-the-century Fabergé bottle and an array of elegant French couture bottles of all shapes and sizes.

Make your own scent

Step inside the authentic perfume laboratory, where you’ll learn about the raw materials required to turn flowers and other items into scent, before getting a chance to make your own fragrance in a 20-minute workshop. Each year, Fragonard celebrates a different flower, and it is with this bloom that you’ll craft your very own ‘flower of the year’ eau de toilette. This will then be packaged in a 12ml spray bottle as a souvenir for you to take home.
