  • Take a stroll in gardens, a haven of flora and sculpture

Built in the style of Louis XIII the Maison d’Auguste Rodin a Meudon villa on the outskirts of Paris was the home and workshop of the sculptor Auguste Rodin. The premiere sculptor of his time in France, Rodin moved to Meudon in 1893 where he lived with his lifetime companion Rose Beuret.

Creating some of his finest masterpieces here, Rodin worked tirelessly to create personal works of art while also working on public commissions to support his family. His beautiful sculptures are known for their incredible realism and expressiveness; he was even once accused of creating a plaster cast of a model rather than having actually sculpted the statue himself.

There is also a museum on the grounds of the Maison d’Auguste Rodin a Meudon which houses his plaster studies for some of his most famous works, including such sculptures as Balzac, the Gates of Hell, and the Kiss.

The house is also surrounded by a garden in which, beneath the gaze of perhaps his most famous sculpture ‘The Thinker’, is the tomb of Rodin.

The Maison d’Auguste Rodin a Meudon affords the opportunity to take a closer look at the surroundings of an artist who helped shape art of the 20th century. He is the leader of a generation of artists and this museum allows you to explore the space where he created some of his most intimate works.

Explore the intimate side of Rodin creativity with your Paris Pass at the Maison d’Auguste Rodin a Meudon! After a house visit, make sure to visit the dedicated Rodin Museum.
