Île de la Cité and Notre-Dame Exterior Walking Tour

Discover the island at the heart of Paris.

  • Explore Paris with The Paris Pass®
Your Paris pass includes dozens of other top attractions, all for one money-saving price

Overview

Step into the history of Paris on a guided walking tour of Île de la Cité, the historic island at the heart of the city. Meet beside the statue of Henri IV on Pont Neuf, the oldest surviving bridge in Paris, and discover how it played a role in the city’s development and royal past.

From here, cross onto Île de la Cité and stroll through its atmospheric medieval streets and squares. Your guide will bring the island’s fascinating past to life with stories of French kings, religion, justice and the Revolution, while you take in beautiful views across the Seine and some of Paris’ most iconic sights.

Continue to Notre-Dame Cathedral to admire its magnificent Gothic façade, towers and intricate sculptures. Hear about the cathedral’s construction and remarkable history, including the 2019 fire and the restoration that followed. You’ll also stop at Point Zero, traditionally considered the centre of Paris, before finishing near Notre-Dame with time to explore the area for yourself.
