Covered passages walking tour highlights
Galerie Vivienne
Packed with luxury boutiques, Galerie Vivienne dates back to 1823 and has been beautifully restored to its original neo-classical glory. Take time to enjoy the mosaiced floors and visit the rotunda, where goddesses adorn the walls beneath the impressive glass dome.
Passage Choiseul
At 190 meters, Passage Choiseul is the longest covered passage in Paris. Grab a flaky, buttery croissant and browse watchmakers’ windows, jewelry stores and more along the arcade's narrow length.
Passage des Panoramas
Built in 1799, Passage des Panoramas is the oldest covered walkway in Paris. Soak up the old-fashioned charm as you stroll across its paving stones, peering into shop windows and pausing at traditional Parisian pavement cafés.
Passage du Jouffroy
It’s easy to understand why Passage du Jouffroy is one of Paris's most popular arcades, with its polished geometric tiling, ornate stucco clock and delightful 19th-century Librairie du Passage bookstore, where new and antiquarian books spill out of the shelves and pile up in corners. Your guide will also point out the wax museum, which has been operating here for nearly 150 years.
Passage Verdeau
Antique stores and vintage ephemera jostle with cute bistros beneath a stunning iron-and-glass canopy in this 1847 arcade. Step inside for some genuine 19th-century Parisian charm and to admire the grand roof, the ribs of which are designed to look like fish bones!
