Things to do in Paris with the family

Paris is a great place to visit with the family and it's a key city to teach them all about French culture at an early age. With a rich history to discover there are plenty of ways to keep the children entertained in the capital. But - if you’re worried about how to make art, architecture and history appealing to your kids then follow our suggested list of things to with your family in Paris. There are plenty of ways to make culture captivating! Petite Train de Montmartre This little train ride in Montmartre is a must-do with the family. Montmartre is a cute little district up on the mount in Paris where the bohemian artists used to live in the 20th century. Now it’s full of little boutiques and cobbled streets to explore – great for curious little minds. Hop on at the bottom of the hill, at Place Blanche (opposite the Moulin Rouge), and ride up the atmospheric streets of Montmartre saving little tired legs all the waking. At the top you’ve got the spectacular Sacré Coeur to enjoy sweeping views over Paris from an unparalleled viewpoint. From up high you can play countless games of eye-spy and even bring a picnic right up to the tiered gardens opposite the basilica. Grevin Wax Museum While you’re in the area, Grevin Wax Museum is a good one to visit to balance out the cultural with the fun. Give your kids the chance to meet their sporting heroes – in wax form. The Grevin Wax Museum will entertain and elude you with life-like figures of some of the world’s most famous faces including Brad Pitt, Elton John and Michael Jackson! Explore the Hall of Mirrors which dates back to 1900 and be wowed by the spectacle itself. Take the tour and learn about how each wax figure is made; from the number of hairs inserted into their heads, to the real items of clothing lent to the attraction by the actual celebrities. Notre Dame Cathedral One of Paris’ most famous religious landmarks, Notre Dame is legendary for its size and role in the Paris’ history. However, that’s not very interesting if you’re a kid. Bring it to life by telling them Victor Hugo’s story of the Hunchback of Notre Dame and point out the gargoyles and chimera which perch on its ledges. Take them up the towers for some great views over central Paris and where they’ll be able to get a closer view of the stony creatures. Inside the cathedral the stained glass windows create a kaleidoscopic effect which will mesmerize the kids, as well as the huge, heavy ringing bells. Disneyland Paris Although not included in the Paris Pass, Disneyland Paris is a must-see when you’re in town with the kids. The home to all imaginative creatures that have graced our screens for over nine decades, ride the teacups or roller coaster rides with your family and get a photo with Cinderella, or Mickey Mouse. Take part in shows and parades that will keep you busy all day long and discover everything you can about this brought-to-life Disney world. If you’re looking for something that will really give them something to remember Disneyland Paris is a must. Puppet Shows If you want to give your children a bit of old fashioned culture and entertainment - and test the waters with their bilingual skills - the puppet shows, otherwise called the guignols, are something fun to do with the kids in central Paris. Ideal for your younger ones, these French puppet shows portray the same fairy tales that translate across languages such as Red Riding Hood and the Three Bears. It’s a great activity to involve your kids in to experience some good old fashioned fun. Best contact the park website before you go to check the times.
