Soirée Love

The Musée Rodin is keeping their doors open late this Valentine’s Day for an exceptional event. The soirée will feature music, dance, poetry, and a few pleasant surprises. Celebrate the love story of Camille Claudel and Auguste Rodin, set amidst the backdrop of his most sensual and romantic sculptures. An enchanting evening awaits!

Hearts in Romanticism and Contemporary Art

The Museum of the Romantic Life has assembled a lovely collection of contemporary art featuring visual representations of the heart. The exhibit is divided into 7 sections, representing 7 different themes relating to love. For example, the following states are explored: love at first sight, declaration of love, erotism, break ups, mourning, and eternal love. To celebrate Valentine’s Day as well as the exhibit opening, the temporary exhibit will be free of charge. In addition, the Museum will be offering workshops, guided tours, a photo booth, a love wall for guests to sign as well as children’s programming.

Jacques B. sings Brel

Jacques Barbaud is a veteran in the music industry. From the age of 25 (in 1979), he became entranced by the music of Belgian singer and legend, Jacques Brel. Somehow Barbaud channels the soul of the late musician with passionate renditions of his music. For those who appreciate Brel’s talent and poetry, you will be completely captivated!

Did you know that Paris has a Hip Hop cultural centre in the heart of the city? Located in the Forum des Halles, La Place Hip Hop is a non-for-profit group that aims to showcase and celebrate all of the art forms of Hip Hop including: dance, rap, DJ’ing, beatbox, and graffiti. This year, La Place is hosting the 20th annual ‘Battle Pro’ breakdance competition. More than one hundred dancers from all corners of France will compete to see who will represent their country in the world championships! The heat is on, and rest assured, everyone will be bringing their A game to this event!

Christian Louboutin, Exhibition[niste]

The Palais de la Porte Dorée will be rolling out the red carpet this month in honour of fashion icon and shoe designer, Christian Louboutin. The exhibit will showcase the artist’s influences as well as never before seen items from his personal collection. In addition, Louboutin’s collaborations with other famous artists and creatives will also be on display. This exhibit marks the beginning of the Palais de la Porte Dorée’s initiative to host new events that feature contemporary creation and art. We can’t wait to see what else is in store this year!

Monet, Renoir, Chagall, Journeys around the Mediterranean

The Atelier des Lumières hosts a gallery experience unlike any other! Images are displayed on 10 meter (33 ft.) high ceilings, with 140 video projectors, and feature music with a spatialised sound system. Coming to Paris in February, the exhibit will bring to life art that was inspired by the Mediterranean. Covering the span between Impressionism and Modernism, including Fauvism and Pointillism, the exhibit traces the journey of the famous Impressionist painters who abandoned Paris in the 1880s for the sun kissed coasts. With over 500 works displayed, you won’t want to miss this multi-sensory and extraordinary exhibition!

Dark Valentine Night

Paris in February doesn't have to be saccharine! If you are looking for an anti-Valentine's option, Le Manoir de Paris might just be the ticket. The Manor specializes in terror, and this Valentine’s Day will be no exception. Fitting into their ‘Dark Night’ show, visitors will be plunged into near total darkness with only a glow stick to light their way. Beware! Ghouls and grotesque monsters will be on hand to horrify and delight. This show will definitely get your heart beating faster!

Carnaval de Paris

Paris in February means Carnaval! Going on 23 years running, the Carnaval is back once again. This year’s decor and costume theme is, “a fabulous aerial world”. Participants and crowds can follow the parade route from Place Gambetta to Republique. Upon arrival, anywhere from 5:00 -6:00 p.m., the party will continue until 8:00 p.m. Traditionally, the parade takes place the Sunday before Mardi Gras and its roots can be traced back to antiquity. Dedicated to keeping the custom alive and well, the non-for-profit group’s goal is to, “share joy and smiles”. We can’t argue with that!

Salon Rétromobile

Founded in 1976, Rétromobile is Paris’ premier vintage car event. Over the course of 5 days, visitors will experience: 1,000 plus vintage cars on display, 620 exhibitors, 120 car clubs, vehicle themed art, vendors who sell anything from miniatures to rare car parts, as well as auctions. Basically it is the ‘garden of earthly delights’ for anyone who is passionate about cars! But don’t forget to wear good walking shoes! With 72,000 sq. ft. of exhibition space, you will most likely need to be chauffeured home.
